The Future of Print Media
Are we looking at the imminent demise of print media advertising in the real estate industry? That is the question. The National Association of Realtors in The United States of America has published some interesting data which points to the internet being the main tool buyers use when searching for real estate. Print media plays a very small role in the sale of real estate in The USA, with only 8% of purchasers using print media to find their dream home. It is worthy to mention that Print Media has never been as prominent in The USA as compared to Australia. However, real estate print media is certainly playing a much smaller role when it comes to buyers searching for property in Australia, with the role of the agent and and the internet accounting for a much larger percentage of sales than print media. Print media is predominantly now used by real estate agents to maintain a profile within their local areas, in reality agents are now using the paper to search for new sellers, just as much as looking for buyers.
The next few years will be interesting, with faster and faster internet connections and the massive growth of mobile devices such as the iPad and mobile phones. The writing could possibly be on the wall, your fish and chips in the future might be wrapped in something other than the newspaper.
